Part 4: That Was Not The End of Our Time in a Hospital.

In the middle of the night 12/13-12/14 I began having severe pain in my lower abdomen, a 103.5 fever, and vomiting. I called Faben OB/GYN after hour number and told them my symptoms. I was told if I could get the fever down to come in when they opened if not got to the ER. At the point that I could not ease my symptoms we decided it was best to go to the ER. Due to the treatment of my previous visit at Baptist hospital John and I felt fearful for my life to return to that hospital. We chose to go to St. Vincent’s ER. Within 15 minutes of my arrival I was triaged and taken to a room. upon arriving to the room, I was immediately seen by a doctor and tests were ran. I was diagnosed with a severe UTI and residual materials causing an infection in my uterus with signs of possible uterine perforation. I was admitted to the hospital. I stayed in the hospital from 12/14-12/19. During my stay I received a combination of strong antibiotics and had to see the infectious disease Dr to make sure it was the correct combination. I was released on 12/19 with 2 prescription antibiotics and instructions to follow up with my OB/GYN in 2 days. I told my attending physician that I was terrified to return to my OB/GYN but she told me I had to be seen within two days and they would be the fastest and that she felt we were on the right track so their follow up treatment should be sufficient. My OB/GYN could not see me until 7 days later. At that apt I did not see Dr. P. but instead Dr. H.she seemed very concerned that it was clear I was still fighting the infection my uterus was still the size of 13 weeks pregnant and the lining was extremely inflamed. I was given 2 more antibiotics and told to follow up in two weeks. My follow up apt was with Dr. C. who checked nothing, I told her I was still having problems she responded with you had a miscarriage your fine you can continue with normal life things now and sent me home. I struggled for the next 3 months with continued pain, off and on fever and constant bleeding. In April I finally saw Doctor PH who I had my other three children with and who I should have never attempted having a baby without. I was scheduled for surgery within a week and guess what he removed … a golf ball size piece of placenta that was left in there.
