Part 2 : Believe It or Not This Story Has More To It !

So from where we left off……. At 10:30pm my water broke in the middle of a contraction. This contraction was no different than the ones I had been having for hours. My water was clear, had some blood, no foul Odor. We then hit the call button to the nurse that my water broke. Nurse K. came in put a towel under my bottom and said she was going to get the doctor. No one came back in our room at all until around 11pm despite the fact that we hit the call button 3 different times because my pain was so intense we were worried I was going to rupture the stitch. The nurse who came in was not Nurse K.. She informed us I was being admitted, Doctor P. was on the phone with Roc, and would be in soon. The nurse told me she was going to draw some blood and put my IV in for Nurse K.. She asked, “you are not bleeding, are you?” I answered yes; I have been bleeding since we arrived. She then checked to see if Dr P. was on her way and was told she was still on phone with Dr. D. from Roc. Shortly after, Dr P. walked in for first time since our arrival. Upon arrival she doesn’t introduce herself but I was aware of who she was. She immediately went to check my cervix but had to wait on a very long intense contraction. She offers me an epidural and says we can get it placed before removing the cerclage if I prefer.  I tell her yes; I prefer to have an epidural if we can hurry up and get the epidural because I didn’t want take a chance of waiting too long to take the stitch out and it rupturing. She then says my cervix is right under 1cm and stitch wasn’t tight so we were ok to wait for the epidural but we would get that epidural as fast as possible. She then asks the nurse “we already sent off labs, right?” then the nurse tells her that labs had not been drawn yet. She instructs her to draw labs and start an IV. She then tells me she can see I am having a lot of contractions (I have no contraction monitor on she observed this and they were equal to when I was being discharged) but to let her know if I feel any pressure or if want iv pain meds before epidural. She leaves room, nurse draws blood, places Iv, and starts fluid around 11:20pm. At his point another new nurse comes in and introduces herself (I am unsure of her name but she was our nurse till 6am) says she don’t know what’s happened so far tonight but from what she hears we all need new faces and to start fresh. At this point I’m told for me to get an epidural I will need full bag of fluids and as soon as the current bag was 3/4 complete, she would call for epidural. She acknowledges I’m visibly in a lot of pain and ask would I like some pain meds in my Iv. I tell her no because I was told I would have an epidural within the hour and I was holding on for that. I also told her I have only ever taken pain meds once and they made me sick not to mention I really didn’t want to be foggy headed. At 12:05am on 12/9 I was told my epidural was on its way it would be there within 10-15 minutes. By sometime around 1am was told the Anesthesiologist has to go into a surgery and it was going to be quite some time before he would make it to my room and once again offered IV pain medication because of my visible pain. At this point I felt completely defeated and could handle no more pain so I accepted the pain medication as long as they could give me precautionary nausea medication. Around 1:45am the Anesthesiologist made it to my room and administered my epidural. At 2:25am Dr P. returns to my room and removes the cerclage. She also informed me that my cervix is only slightly dilated and she was going to give me some medicine to progress things. I believe the medication was called Misoprostol; I was given 4 of them to dissolve under my tongue. Sometime after this point of time and before shift change, so I would say between 3am and 6am I began to run a fever and at that point I was started on Tylenol, Ibuprofen, and sometime after Unasyn (an antibiotic). AT NO POINT BEFORE THIS TIME WAS INFECTION TALKED ABOUT NOT EVEN AFTER COMPLETE BLOOD COUNT WAS DRAWN. I became very drowsy and slept on and off for the remainder of the night, waking briefly for the nurse checking on me, changing fluids, blood pressure, temp, etc. At 6am I received a new nurse who was being followed by Trainee. I was given four more misoprostol at some point. On the morning of 12/9 Dr D. came into our room to express his condolences. At this time, we began telling him what had happened and asking him questions. We informed him we begged for him to be called because he had said there was a medication, he would give me to stop contraction if they started (discussed at multiple previous appointments) he said he was called and told my water ruptured. We informed him that I was discharged an HR before my water ruptured while begging for them to call him. At some point in his visit he stated that he told Dr. P. we could continue pregnancy with ruptured water (THIS OPTION WAS NEVER GIVEN TO US AT ALL) but then continued saying he could see now that I had fever/infection so that was not an option (this did not make sense to me because there was no fever or mention of infection till after my epidural).  Nurses did routine things and asked questions about our wishes once he was born. We told them we wanted to hold him immediately even if he was born with a heartbeat. If he had a heartbeat, we would keep him until his heart stopped then he would go to get pictures and foot prints but we did want him returned to us. The instructions were the same if born without heartbeat; hold him, let him go for that stuff to be done and then brought back to us. Sometime passed and Dr P. come back in and delivered our baby at 12:25pm at this point he was given to us for brief bit while Dr P. tried to encourage delivery of placenta then we let nurse take him to get pictures and feet print under assumption he would return to our room when done like discussed earlier that day ,but that was the last time we saw our baby.
